Aldi mobile plans. Any good.

Post by Gozz »

How u going guys.
I'm a bit over paying heaps each month for a mobile plan.
My plan runs out soon and a mate told me to try aldis mobile $35 unlimited plan.
They use Telstra coverage with unlimited calls and 5gig data.

Anyone on this plan and are you happy. ?

Thanks.

They may use the Telstra network for their coverage but you do get what you pay for. I say this because they divide the download speed between proper Telstra customers and their cheaper partners. I did speed tests with guys at work. I'm with Telstra and got download speeds of 28.5 Mbps and uploads speeds of 16.2 Mbps. Compared to the cheaper companies results of 0.8 Mbps download and 0.5 Mbps upload. We sat next to each other and did the tests at the same time. I tested with other work colleges and always got similar results. I hope this makes sense!!! So 95% might go to Telstra and 5% to other. If many customers are downloading in your area, which always happens, the speed slows dramatically.
So if you are after a plan for just calls and SMS, then I think it will be ok. If on the other hand you use a smart phone then Telstra hands down wins.
Nothing's for free but you definitely get what you pay for!
Hope that helps,
Norska

Btw before Telstra I was with 3 which used the Telstra network but it got taken over by vodaphone. The coverage changed and was so terrible outside the CBD I had to change. Telstra has my vote. Not affiliated blah blah and like all phone help customer service they all suck!

Thanks norska.
That definately helps.
ATM I'm with Vodafone and I really can't complain with coverage or data speed.
This is a speed test I just did sitting in my living room.
What do u think.

Hey gozz, so that's 4 Mbps upload and 1.4 Mbps download. So if you were with telstra you would get faster all round. When I switch the results were dramatic.
