Just read this article, just a reminder to be careful and watch the forecast.
No fish or trip is worth your life!

78 years old in a tinny in these conditions?
People laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at them because they're all the same.

The officer who commented on this (Ed Formosa) is related to me through my brothers wife.
This is just one of the many stories I hear from him, they are sick of it happening and find it hard to believe common sense does not prevail.

Another example of common sense not being very common.
I wish the man a speedy recovery.

It makes my spine shiver that there are people so careless out there.
How there isn't more horror stories like this or worse is beyond me.
But at the end of the day this 78yr old man is still someones family and friend! Lets all wish him a speedy recovery!

What is interesting on another boating forum, they refer to PPB as the g.a.y bay. Yet there have been a large number of boating accidents and deaths over the years.

PPB is not to be taken lightly, it is a very volatile body of water.
Things can turn from good to life threatening in a matter of minutes.
Some people underestimate or choose to ignore mother nature, not a good idea.

Re: Not a kayak but still scary! Be careful out there!
My old man and I headed off from Mornington at 6 pm yesterday (25th) in the stinker just as the W wind died and started to turn light SE which is perfect for the area. Throughout the day there had been strong 20'knot plus winds which would have been extremely dangerous and stupid to go out in. Although it was calm out there when we were fishing I was still apprehensive knowing that there would be 3 m plus waves with 60 km winds this morning. It always pays to know the weather conditions and remember that a forecast is is just that, and sometimes wind gusts can be 40% higher than predicted.
No fish is worth dying for. We fished the bird rock area for about 4 hrs for doughnut.
Our boat trailer was the only one back at the ramp which which made it even more spooky.

I am always aware of the conditions for the next day, there has been plenty of times the weather comes through early.
It's even more spooky when you go to launch and there is no trailers there
