I have nothing against Chinese made products. The reality is that these days most of the goods we use are made in Asia. I bet that 95% if not all clothes we wear are mae in China, kitchenware, bedding, sporting goods, car parts etc.

Just because it is made in China doesnt mean its a poor quality kayak IMO.

I didn't mention Chinese as I agree that its generally not relevant, but my comments were made based on its design, not origin. I have had a very similar design yak to that that was frankly dangerous in any chop due to the design of the sides and internal layout. The yak I'm referring to also was advertised with a very high payload but in reality is overloaded at a fraction of that weight. For your size you will need a yak with relatively high sides and good stability to handle choppy conditions. A good deck layout that lets you easily access hatches on the water is also a must. There are plenty of quality yaks out there from the likes of Cobra, Jackson, OK etc, not to mention Hobie.

Yes, the Fish and Dive fits me well, but I have a feeling it will be damn exhausting paddling it.
The Cobra Marauder fits me well as well, but that's 1.9k

The Extreme Outlaw fits me, for sale at 1.2k.

Jackson Cuda 14 - $2k is long, 180kg payload so you have 60kg to spare and one of the most comfortable seats out there.

Like most others have said if you think you will stick to the sport it's better to invest in something quality and be safe. These big brands have spent alot of money on research and development and they are built to a standard.

It's not about Chinese being rubbish but alot of those Chinese imports aren't event built to maritime buoyancy standards... Look second hand if new is out of the ballpark.
