Newbie.. needs some advice...

Post by dansousa »

Hi guys,

I'm new here...

I'm planning to buy a kayak but I'm on a budget so not sure how long it will take.
Any recommendations?

Should I look at something like this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sit-on-Fishi ... f1e&_uhb=1
or this
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-2013-ORU ... e73&_uhb=1

Thanks

Thanks for that Brettie. I've seen it..

Although I would definitely organise the security items before thinking about going into the water...

Could anyone recommend any kayak then?

Cheers

some info would be great Daniel, such as how old are you, experience level, how much do you weigh and how tall are you and where do you want to kayak? fresh or salt water? fishing or not? what type of beer do you drink? it all helps us help you

Any Hobie Mirage Drive kayak.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Daniel the Kingfisher is a good yak and still probably the best value for money paddle yak around
quite a few of us use them so can recomend them

http://nolimitswatersports.com.au/waved ... p-105.html

a mate bought a brand new one from the above a few weeks ago all up cost was about $ 900 with a high back seat and paddle

you can sometimes find good second hand ones around as well

Hi and welcome.

I'm also new to kayak fishing.

I bought one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SIERRA-ANGLE ... 461a7e1349

This seller is also a bricks'n'mortar kayak shop in sydney. postage was quite reasonable. I'm very happy with it and it will suit me fine. Just be aware that if you want to be be able to go far out into the bay or offshore, then you will need a longer yak. I wanted to be able to fish snags in estuaries and shallows/flats, so hence the short length will be fine.

You could also check out some kayak shops. alot have try before you buy type sessions. This might help you figure out some of the features you do or don't want.

Good luck finding the right one for you.
