Re: Scallop Trip
I missed the last one due to bad ears.
But I am still keen to redeem myself and grab some of those tasty buggers.
Don't know about the season though..
Eddy/Mav, are they still good to grab?

Scallop
MINIMUM LEGAL SIZE: no minimum.
BAG/POSSESSION LIMIT: 100.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they have a closed season. Just no taking from marine sanctuaries obviously.

Re: Scallop Trip
Not the closed season, rather the size and roe content.
I remember either Edd or Mav telling me that there is a good time of year to bag em??
I am sure they would be fine all year to eat, but they may be taster during certain months???

Scallops, what are they
When we say it's BIG RED SEASON, we don't mean a big red blood stain on the bay,
GET YOUR LIGHTS ON + YOUR PFD'S.
Happy Sailing Fishing and keep blowing bubbles.

Re: Scallop Trip
Scallops spawn in Sep - Nov, the best time to get them is when the water is coldest and before they spawn - however they will still be nice now they just won't (generally) have a big roe. Happy to go whenever - let me consult the new VYAK calendar for some dates.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Re: Scallop Trip
I'd be interested for a snorkelling version. All of the dive gear is out of test by many years.
Last time we went off Rye (a long time back) the water was deeper than snorkelling depth. Is there a location that you know that is shallow?
