Cheater suggested this launch to me a while back, San Remo back beach. If you time it with the tides it is pretty much a no paddling/peddling offshore trip. It's only 1km from the lunch to outside the entrance and the tide can take you there no worries. From there you can then just ride with the tide towards kilcunda. Plenty of couta, snook, salmon, flatties, variety of sharks, and the odd kingy (or so I've been told ) all the way along. It would give anyone looking at offshore a good idea of what it is like even just running along near the cliffs, as it is fully exposed to the swell. It's not too hard to set up drifts for bottom bouncing out deeper either. The incoming tide can then he ridden back in again.
I would recommend a good wheel cart, especially if coming in while the tide is low as the back beach can be left exposed to a fair way out.

Also keep in mind that no matter how good the area, no one should ever become complacent when going offshore, and all safety equipment is required.

it's also worth noting that just near the entrance is some good broken ground for squid - whiting and others ( live bait )

I think I see where you mean Cheater, the rough ground just inside Griffith Point on the way out. It would be great to pick up good squid and livies in this close then be able to head directly out. I'll check it out Saturday morning with a launch just on first light. Anyone else is welcome to come along.

Note: the arrow to Cleeland bight is a positional reference and it is advised to go around the sand bars as the waves break over them.

That's what I've got to the best of my knowledge. I was able to pick up all my bait within 20mins today.

Ill just also add that the point break would only be occasional. Their wasn't much of a break to worry about coming back in today, It's probably just something to keep an eye on if the swell is up and it is high tide or there abouts.
Sticking to 5m or more as you go around it will keep you well and truly safe.

With your map the arrow to Cleeland appears to be pointing through the middle sands. I'd assume it's best to go around as this area is usually breaking.

Haha, yeah true, those arrows were just ment for positional reference

I really like this launch, with the bait grounds so close and you will have the cleeland bight bait grounds as back up if these ones have an off day (If you're heading to cape woolamai to fish).
