Tuna care

A video on preparing tuna after you catch them, no idea how necessary it is but thought the offshore guys would be interested.

Awesome! Some really interesting stuff there. I have just spiked and bled my tuna. Then when they stop bleeding I gut and gill them but I usually open up the entire cavity (from the anus to the head), then put them on ice in my ridiculous esky. But I will use this method of gutting next time, and the destroying of the spinal cord is interesting I may give that a go next time too!

Thanks

Cheers

cheers for the video, some of that could be a little challenging in a yak.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Good little instructional video, I worked on Tuna longlining boats in NZ targeting the Giant Northern Bluefin, the spiking and gutting technique in the video is how we would prepare fish for the Japanese market. The fish in the pic was a 280 kg's gutted.
