I have sidekicks for my Hobie Revo 13. I have been thinking about mounting rod holders onto my hobie sidekick bar using a rail mount rod holder but I have never installed a rail mount for a holder holder.
I think the Berkley Quick Set rod holders can mount onto a rail as per following
https://www.tackleaustralia.com.au/berk ... ifications
But can anyone tell me
1. How would a rail mount like for Berkley Quick set attach onto my sidekick bar ? Do I have to drill a hole in the bar ? or does it utilise a clamp/friction setup ? If friction - is the mount solid ? (i.e. can take a big gummy/snapper strike etc ?)
2. Does the Berkley Quick set fit my sidekick bar ?
Would love to know if someone else has mounted rod holders to a side kick and what rod holder brand they used.

Cheaper at Anaconda $23.95

Quicksets are ideal for when you are mounting a holder way forward due to the ease of removing the rod. However they are not the most secure of holders and if you are looking to mount outboard then you may want to think of something that can lock the rod in place, such as railblaza or scotty.

I've used scotty mounts for my berkely qs, as per Keiths recommendations, the berkely mounts imho are only good if your free spooling, im not sure but i think hobie dealers have railblaza mounts to suite the rails for the AI so they might also have scotty ones or some way to adapt a scotty mount.

So you guys think this is better ?
https://scotty.com/product/no-287-78-round-rail-mount/
Use a rail mount and then a scotty rod holder that locks the rod in place ?
Or can I go with this berkley ? this one locks the rod in place and can mount on a rail ?

Re: Berkley quick set rod holder Rail mount
The best system I've found for rail mounting is the railblaza base that goes onto a round bar (v=comes in a couple of sizes) then a railblaza rod holder into that.
